Ever Thought of Running for Office?
With 2013 upon us, Virginia will being having statewide races, critical state delegate elections as well as some local elections at the city and county level this year. To prepare, we are excited to partner with our friends at American Majority as they bring their New Leaders Project to Richmond. The New Leaders Project is designed to motivate and equip you, the hard-working citizens of our state to become part of the solution to the problems that you see every day in your communities. It is time for new leaders to step forward as candidates for the many elected positions on city councils, boards of supervisors, school boards and other offices.
We believe that our elected officials should be held accountable for their decisions. If they don't do the job that they are elected to do, they should be challenged in elections. While running for local office is no simple thing, it can be done successfully with a limited budget, small staff and the proper support and training. American Majority's campaign training has helped candidates for school board win in Virginia and go on to immediately start trimming budgets. American Majority-trained candidates have also gone on to win elections in Wisconsin, Georgia, Oklahoma and many other states. The impact of campaign training that equips new conservative candidates to win elections is being felt in communities across the county.
For those who are more interested in becoming successful grassroots activists and assist these candidates in their races at the state and local levels, the training will be divided up to include training for community activists that desire to recruit new candidates and support candidates through successful GOTV, media and volunteer efforts. The activist portion of the training will be geared toward group leaders and other activists who want to learn how to change the local political environment and achieve goals by identifying and supporting candidates that will reflect their values in the public arena.
The training will take place on January 26th from 10:00am-4:00pm at Midlothian Baptist Church, located at 11840 Lucks Lane, Midlothian. Registration for the campaign track is $50.00 per person, and registration for the activist track is only $25.00. Lunch will be provided. Family Foundation supporters will receive a 15% discount at registration, just type "Family" in the box at the bottom of the registration page where it asks for a coupon. Note that it is case sensitive. Click here to register.
With the dismal results of last year's election, we need to redouble our efforts as we gear up for yet another election year here in Virginia. You won't want to miss this great opportunity to learn how to have a greater impact on your local community as well as your state.
