Dear Tricia:
Thank you for signing the Property Rights Petition!
The Resolution to put the property rights amendment into the Constitution is currently under consideration by the General Assembly. To be placed in the Virginia Constitution, the Resolution must pass both houses again, and then must be endorsed by Virginia's voters in a referendum. You can read the proposed Amendment here.
There are three easy ways you can help get it passed:
- Contact your state legislator. To send an e-mail, click here. You are also welcome to testify in support of the Amendment when it comes up before the various subcommittees and committees. You can track the progress of the Amendment and check hearing dates by clicking here.
- Contact your local government. Several local governments are opposing the Amendment, and as reported in the Washington Times, some are even spending tax dollars to hire lobbyists to fight it. You can contact your supervisors and City Councilors and make sure they know what you think about the Constitutional Amendment.
- Advocate with your neighbors. Because this Amendment will ultimately come before the voters in a referendum, we need everyone's support. You can write a letter to the editor, send out e-mails, or just talk to people in your church or local civics group. If you need more information to better make your case, let us know and we will send it to you!
To be successful, we need your help! Thank you for all you do to support private property rights in Virginia.
Sincerely,Rob Bell

Distinction between conservation and environmentalism: The first means taking care to use natural resources without ruining them for the next person. The second says that mankind has no rights and suggests that any use of any natural resource causes damage. We must STOP AGENDA 21!
