Greetings Ms. Wiskin,
I'm passing your request on to the organizer committee as well as posting it under "outreach" on peninsulateaparty.org if that's OK. It is admirable that you are making this non-partisan as are we and you should find that the party structure is an obstacle, if not at odds with, the Tea Party goal of citizen control of government. As for "non-political," I don't know what you mean. There is politics in everything.
By "new to political activism" I assume you mean a year or so is new. If that is the case I expect you will find very many of us are new. That is part of what lead up to the problem we have today. It was the intention of our founding fathers that we all would be actively in control of our government as soon as we began to be in control of our own lives. That is one American value that always been under threat but for too many of us it had to be resurrected from the grave.
You are welcome to call me at 757-593-1719 but also consider coming out to Peninsula Tea Party's next meeting on Election Day or to any (or I suggest as many as you can) of the events on the calendar. What better way to understand why we began than to find out why you should too.

Dear Mr. Alexander,My name is Joy Wiskin and I am a George Mason University graduate student writing a Master's thesis about Tea Party activism. I am interested in researching the reasons and motivations behind why people become Tea Party activists. My thesis is for research purposes only and is non-partisan and non-political. It will not be used for any political purpose.I would like to ask you whether you may be able to put me in touch with members of the Peninsula Tea Party group who are new to political activism? For my study, I would like to delve into some of the reasons why people have joined the Movement and whether they feel that that traditional American values are under threat today.
Participation in the research study would involve just one 60-90 minute telephone interview. If you know anybody who would be interested in being interviewed, I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you very much in advance for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Joy WiskinGeorge Mason Master's student 2011
